•Multiple faculty positions open in Computer Engineering•

The creation of the Department of Computer Engineering within the College of AI, Cyber and Computing represents a defining milestone in UT San Antonio’s commitment to advancing technology, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and preparing the next generation of engineers to lead in a rapidly evolving world.

Our department is poised for substantial growth and currently offers three degree programs:

  • BS in Computer Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • MS in Computer Engineering
  • PhD in Computer Engineering

With more than 400 students enrolled and continued growth anticipated, we are building a vibrant academic community that combines rigorous education with hands-on innovation.

Our faculty are nationally recognized leaders, honored with prestigious awards such as the NSF CAREER, AFOSR Young Investigator Program (YIP), and the University of Texas Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. Several faculty members also direct major research centers and institutes at UT San Antonio, amplifying the department’s impact across campus and beyond.

Research in Computer Engineering at UT San Antonio spans a broad spectrum of cutting-edge areas, including AI/ML systems, computer architecture, low-power VLSI design, neuromorphic computing, quantum engineering, and cybersecurity. These efforts are supported by robust federal and industry partnerships, ensuring that our work addresses both fundamental challenges and real-world applications.

The department maintains strong collaborations with UT San Antonio’s premier research centers and hubs, including the National Security Collaboration CenterCenter for Data Science, the Cyber Manufacturing Innovation Institute, the Institute for Cyber Security, the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security, the MATRIX AI Consortium, and the Open Cloud Institute. Faculty and students have access to state-of-the-art research laboratories and high-performance computing resources.
