Fourteen College of AI, Cyber and Computing faculty members earned tenure or promotions this fall.
Joining more than 200 faculty members across UT San Antonio’s colleges and campuses, 14 faculty members from the College of AI, Cyber and Computing were promoted or earned tenure this fall semester.
Founding Dean Jinjun Xiong, PhD, said the promotions recognize the faculty members’ outstanding contributions to the university, their disciplines and the students they serve, while reflecting the college’s growing impact in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computing and data science.
“As we begin a new academic year, I’m proud to recognize our faculty for their accomplishments as scholars and educators who are shaping the future of our college,” Xiong said. “Their work in teaching, research and mentorship strengthens our academic community and moves the college forward.”
Faculty earn tenure based on their achievements in teaching, research, scholarship, creative activities and service. Promotions include:
- Glenn Brown, EdD, Information Systems and Cybersecurity, promoted to associate professor of practice
- Mohammad Chowdhury, PhD, Computer Science, promoted to associate professor of instruction
- Thomas Ervin, MS, Information Systems and Cybersecurity, promoted to associate professor of practice
- Mauricio Alejandro Gomez Morales, PhD, Computer Science, promoted to professor of instruction
- John Heaps, PhD, Computer Science, promoted to associate professor of instruction
- Benjamin Heruska, MS, Computer Science, promoted to assistant professor of practice
- William McCulley, MS, PMP, Information Systems and Cybersecurity, promoted to assistant professor of practice
- Peyman Najafirad (Paul Rad), PhD, Computer Science, promoted to professor
- Yeonjoo Park, PhD, Statistics and Data Science, promoted to associate professor with tenure
- Linda Rutherford, MS, Computer Science, promoted to associate professor of practice
- Amin Sahba, PhD, Computer Science, promoted to associate professor of instruction
- Ramin Sahba, PhD, Computer Science, promoted to associate professor of instruction
- Mimi Xie, PhD, Computer Science, promoted to associate professor with tenure
